In the afternoon, hop on a seat-in-vehicle safari and leave Arusha behind as you journey through the Masai Steppe, where you’ll encounter charming African villages and scenic sights of maize, coffee, and banana plantations. Passing through the town of Makuyuni, you’ll head to Tarangire National Park Gate to complete necessary formalities.

Nestled in the heart of Tanzania, Tarangire National Park stands as a true gem of East African wilderness. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, this park is a sanctuary for diverse wildlife. The park’s striking baobab trees and savannah vistas add to its charm, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers seeking an authentic African safari experience. Tarangire’s tranquil beauty and remarkable biodiversity ensure that every visitor leaves with indelible memories of this pristine corner of Tanzania.

Hidden among the kopjes, lies Tarangire Sopa Lodge, surrounded by ancient baobab trees. It is the home to one of the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa, including the elusive leopard. Over 400 bird species have been identified within the park. With water constantly available through the Tarangire River, the greenery is lush, providing a wonderful contrast.

Spacious and airy with marble floors, the lobby has glass sliding doors that open out to a veranda where one can relax and enjoy the view. The ceiling has a wooden finishing, and the décor with plants in strategic places, gives it a feeling of total relaxation, much needed after the long and dusty drive to the lodge. There is also a swimming pool for those that want to take a refreshing dip.

The lodge boasts 75 spacious rooms, all with a private lounge on entering. Each room is carpeted, has 2 queen size beds with a mosquito net around them. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool and glass sliding doors that open out on to a balcony, with a great view of the landscape beyond.

The journey from Tarangire Sopa Lodge to Lake Manyara Serena Lodge typically takes around 3 to 4 hours, showcasing a transition from Tarangire’s baobab-dotted terrain to the lush landscapes of the region. As you drive through the scenic route, including an ascent along an escarpment, you’ll be rewarded with captivating views of the Rift Valley. Upon arrival at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, perched on the Rift Valley’s edge, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of Lake Manyara, making it the ideal starting point for exploring Lake Manyara National Park and its surroundings.

Tree-climbing lions laze in the park’s acacia trees, offering a rare and thrilling sight, while the diverse landscapes, from lush groundwater forests to open savannas and hot springs, provide a backdrop for thrilling game drives. Home to elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and more, this park delivers a rich wildlife experience against a stunning East African backdrop. The unprecedented range of high-adventure sports include mountain biking, canoeing, forest walks and treetop walkway, while cultural choices include tours of the neighbouring villages and traditional lunch (all at additional costs).

Grouped around a central ‘vanishing horizon’ pool, this highly unusual lodge features a simple timbered reception area, built in traditional African style, which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond reception, lies the central dining room, bar and veranda, below which lies the pool. Perched on the very edge of the cliffs, with stunning views over the lake is the pool bar and observation point. Dotted around the grounds, all with views over the lake, are a series of circular two-story ‘rondavels’, which house the rooms.

Designed to reflect the brilliance of Lake Manyara’s unique birdlife, the architectural motif melds swooping avian curves with the gentle concentric patterns of traditional Maasai ‘Bomas’, while the vibrantly coloured wall frescoes depict the colourful intricacy of bird migratory patterns.

The journey from Lake Manyara Serena Lodge to Serengeti Serena Lodge is a picturesque drive lasting around 4 to 6 hours. It takes you through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands, offering stunning views, and leads you into the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. Serengeti Serena Lodge welcomes you with warm hospitality and breathtaking views of the untamed wilderness, providing the perfect base for exploring this iconic park.

Serengeti National Park, often described as the crown jewel of African wildlife reserves, is a sprawling Eden of untamed beauty and extraordinary wildlife encounters. Located in Tanzania, it spans approximately 14,750 square kilometres and is best known for hosting the spectacular Great Migration, an annual natural spectacle where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores traverse the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing lands, closely pursued by predators. The park’s vast savannas, acacia-dotted landscapes, and rocky outcrops provide the stage for a mesmerizing array of wildlife, from the Big Five to cheetahs, hyenas, and countless bird species. Serengeti National Park is not only a wildlife enthusiast’s dream, but also a place of profound natural beauty and a testament to the wild spirit of Africa, offering an unforgettable safari experience.

Set high on the saddle of a tree-clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti, this lodge is the ultimate fusion of traditional African architecture and world-class style. Centrally located adjacent to the famous Western Corridor and Grumeti River, the lodge has been designed to blend completely into the living landscape. A series of traditional domed ‘rondavels’ are widely spaced throughout the grounds, which are cooled by groves of acacia trees and watered by sparkling streams. On the very edge of the ridge is a ‘vanishing horizon’ pool, which looks out over the ‘endless plains’ after which the Serengeti is named.

The lodge has been styled to offer a showcase of cultural performance, heritage and traditional art, which is best illustrated by the lavish Makonde carvings which decorate both the rooms and the stunning domed dining room.

As for wildlife, the Serengeti National Park offers not only all the members of ‘The Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo), but also the annual ‘migration’ of over one million wildebeest and their attendant cast of predators.

The journey from Serengeti Serena Lodge to Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is a scenic transition through the captivating landscapes of Tanzania. Departing from the heart of the Serengeti, the drive typically spans around 3 to 5 hours, revealing glimpses of wildlife along the way. Exiting the Serengeti, you enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where rolling hills and lush vegetation set the stage for what lies ahead.

The Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” is a geological marvel and one of Africa’s most iconic natural landmarks. Located within Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area, this vast caldera stretches approximately 20 kilometres in diameter and descends over 600 meters into the Earth, forming a unique and self-contained ecosystem. The crater floor is a sanctuary for an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos, as well as a plethora of other species. The striking contrast between the lush, green plains and the rugged crater walls, coupled with the remarkable concentration of wildlife, makes Ngorongoro Crater a safari paradise and an unforgettable destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.

This unique lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the largest and most perfect volcanic crater on Earth. Long and low, the lodge is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, it is entirely invisible from the floor of the Crater 600 metres below.

Hugging the contours of the jagged Crater rim, the lodge takes its inspiration from the so-called ‘Cradle of Mankind’, the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge, which lies close by. Linked by arched stone passages and timbered decks, its walls are decorated with stylised prehistoric cave paintings and lit by flaring torches. At the stone heart of the lodge burns a glowing fire, which is kept constantly alight. Decorated with cave paintings, the rooms are strung around the Crater rim. Each has its own rock-enclosed balcony, and all enjoy completely uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheatre far below.

Known as ‘The eighth wonder of the World’ the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes and forests of ‘The land that time forgot’, dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos and lions.

Set out on a mesmerizing journey, leaving Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast. Behold the beauty of Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu Village while passing through the highlands and Karatu district, with scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations as your backdrop. Continue the adventure with a drive through the picturesque Masai Steppe, passing African villages and lush plantations. As you arrive in Arusha, relish a delicious lunch before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure flight. An unforgettable experience concludes, leaving you with cherished memories.
